How will we solve your problem?
Image of a microprocessor being fittedTypically a client will approach us having identified a problem that they require a solution to. Initially we begin with an informal discussion about the problem, and collect a "wish list" that the client would ideally like the system to fulfil. We then conduct a basic systems analysys to identify the customers needs. At this point, we produce what we consider to be the best solution based on the customers needs, and budget constraints. We will often produce several options to cover a range of timescales, and costings. Once everyone is in agreement it can then be decided how to proceed through the development, manufacture and supply.

Case study

Background

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) is to insist that all personal attack alarm activations are verified before deploying officers to attend incidents.

The false alarm rate is as high as 96 per cent as a result of retail staff pushing their "panic buttons" for the wrong reasons including anti-social behaviour outside stores or suspicious potential shoplifters. From April, retailers will have to better educate their store staff on the correct procedures and use of personal alarms and introduce verification technology that can prove a genuine incident is in progress, or has taken place. Existing policy stipulates that two false alarms will result in having their automatic police response withdrawn for up to three months. But under the new amendment, alarm users will also have to show to their local police that they have the right verification or "intervention" technology in place, to get their officer response back.

The customer

SSS management are a well established security consultancy & management organisation, who serve the needs of a wide range of leading high street stores. (Click here to visit their website).

SSS Came to us to develop a verification system that would allow them to provide their retail customers with the necessary intervention technology to verify that there was a genuine reason for a personal attack alarm activation.

The solution

In close collabouration with SSS, we devised an audio verification system - which could be retrofitted to the existing security system in place in store. After an initial development period, we supplied prototype systems to SSS which were used in trials at the CO-OP & Carphone Warehouse.

The implementation of the system in these stores resulted in an 86% reduction in false alarms from personal attack activations, and we are now supplying completed systems.
